Birds and bird-watching

By Abhijit Menon-Sen <ams@toroid.org>

I have loved birds for as long as I can remember, and over the past few years my interest has grown to include various aspects of ornithology, ranging from taxonomy to linguistics. I am especially interested in studying the habitat and altitudinal preferences of Himalayan species.

I often write about birds in my journal. I don't usually carry a camera, but here are some birds I've photographed; there are much better photos at the Oriental Bird Images web site (which I helped to maintain for many years).

Birding in Delhi

Delhi is second only to Nairobi in terms of bird diversity in a major capital, and I was fortunate to live there for many years. I have put together checklists, directions, and other information about some of my favourite locations.

I may be available as a professional guide to small groups of interested birders on day trips in and around Delhi and Uttarakhand.
