This view shows the back door and the passage to the stairway. Against the North wall is the mass oven, which will heat the room. It burns a few kilograms of wood in the central chamber at a very high temperature. It is made of fire bricks which retain and radiate the heat for many hours afterwards. The upper compartment can be used for baking.
